Citrus County Commission Approves Inverness Airport Hangar Expansion

The commission chambers were mostly pilots on Tuesday. One by one they made the same point: the waiting list for hangar space at Inverness Airport has grown past two years, and general aviation money is going to other counties.

The 4–1 vote funds design and construction of 12 T-hangars. The lone no vote came from a commissioner who wanted the access-road costs priced separately before committing — a sequencing argument, not opposition to the project itself.

County staff said bids will be advertised in November, with construction phased so the field stays open throughout.
