Hernando County Lifts Boil-Water Notice After Tests Come Back Clean
The two-day notice affecting about 1,400 homes west of Brooksville ended Friday after two consecutive clean test rounds, the utility said.
- Notice began Wednesday after a main break dropped system pressure.
- Two clean bacteriological rounds are required before a lift — both passed.
- Residents should flush taps for two minutes before drinking.
Hernando County Utilities lifted the precautionary boil-water notice Friday afternoon, ending a two-day run for roughly 1,400 homes west of Brooksville.
The notice followed a water-main break that dropped pressure in the system — the standard trigger, since low pressure can let contaminants in. State rules require two consecutive clean test rounds before a lift, and the utility said both passed.
If you were under the notice: run the cold taps for a couple of minutes before drinking, and toss ice made during the notice window.
